Commission-based financial services
Financial planning has traditionally been paid for by commission, often where an arrangement fee and sometimes an annual fee are deducted from your regular payments.
At Rouse Limited we aim to give excellent value for money with our commission-based financial services. By using the best available financial planning tools, and through an intelligent approach to wealth management, we believe that our commission-based services will compete with any in the financial planning market.
If you choose to pay for your financial planning through commission-based services, we will commit to ensuring that you have a clear understanding about what commission will be charged. We will explain the products being used and how they are paid for by us and by you.
How is the money paid?
If you buy one of these products, we will normally receive commission on the sale from the product provider. Although you pay nothing up front, that does not mean our service is free - you still pay us indirectly through product charges. Product charges on your products will pay for the provider’s own costs and any commission to us. These charges reduce the amount left for investment. However, if you buy direct from the supplier, it’s possible that the charges could be the same as when you buy through us - or they could be higher, or lower. We’ll let you know how much commission will be charged before you complete an investment.
For many non-investment insurance products, the payment for the product is the same as for investment - through a commission paid for by product fees. However, sometimes we will receive a royalty payment from the provider as part of the annual management charge, or we might accrue a notional entitlement through the set up of the insurance. Both of these will affect the charges applied to your contract. In some cases your charges will cover some of the costs of training and support that the providers recommend that we take as part of our professional qualifications and to ensure that we are managing your products most effectively.
Predominantly we work with fee-based products, but if you’d like to have any details about the way any of these commission-based products and charges work, then please ask us.
